Dahon Mariner D7 Folding Bike

For the daily commuter, life is all about getting around with ease—so is there anything more fitting than a bike that can fold into the size of a carry-on? The Dahon Mariner D7 Folding Bike is lightweight, affordable and literally folds as you take it in and out of the workplace, subway, ferry, or even a restaurant or bar. It has an adjustable high seat, a 7-Speed Shimano drivetrain, 20-inch wheels, and despite the fact that it only weighs 26 pounds, it can hold up to 231 pounds of bodyweight. Plus, with its sleek black and silver frame, it looks good riding through town, too.

Fortified INVINCIBLE 8Speed

When you think of this city bike, only one word comes to mind: strength. Designed for the avid commuter, the Fortified INVINCIBLE 8Speed bicycle considers both function and practicality, establishing itself as a “theft-resistant” bike for those living the big-city lifestyle. In addition to having a rust-proof chain and frame, this bike is built with custom theft-resistant bolts, the Fortified U-lock safekeeping system and puncture-resistant tires. In terms of riding, it has all of the capabilities a city biker needs, including eight-speed shifting capabilities that make it easy to transition between different riding conditions. If that doesn’t make it one of the best city bikes, we don’t know what does.

Pure City Classic

With both a three-speed and eight-speed edition available—perfect for flat or hilly areas, respectively—the Pure City Classic bike was designed to accommodate any city street. Both versions weigh no more than 30 pounds and are built with a Pure City Hi-ten steel frame, top-of-the-line Alloy Dual Pivot brakes and Shimano shifters. Each version’s differences aside, both bikes come in a variety of sleek-looking vintage or solid colors, making them as stylish as they are an actual classic.

Bianchi Venezia

Take a step back in time with this vintage-looking bike, which will have you riding through town with style and grace. If the brand name isn’t enough of a hint of its Italian influence, the design should be. This 1950s-inspired, head-turning city cruiser comes in three vintage colors (plus a special “diamond” edition just for men!), and every bike has a back basket, a leather seat and a classic head badge, or crest, from the Bianchi brand. While it’s no road bike, don’t undermine the capability of the Bianchi name. With its sturdy steel frame and seamless fusion of design and functionality, the Venezia can survive any urban landscape.

Linus Pronto

Another vintage-inspired cruiser, the lightweight Linus Pronto is built for the avid rider. A veritable range-expander, its thin shape gives it the versatility to handle both short rides around the block and miles-long jaunts across the entire city. The features are really what set the Pronto apart. Despite its sleek indigo and black shades, the Pronto’s aluminum step-through frame, Vittoria Randonneur tires, stainless steel hardware and 1-by-8 drivetrain makes this more of a performance-driven bike than anything else.

Tommaso La Forma Hybrid Bike

If you’re looking for a hybrid bike, or a bike that can handle different riding conditions, there are none with a better value than the Tommaso La Forma Hybrid Bike. Its lightweight frame is uniquely made of both aluminum and HCT carbon fork, a combination that keeps vibration low and makes the duration of the ride much smoother. With its wide tires, Shimano Acera Rapid Fire shifters, and 3-by-9 drivetrain, this is a commuter’s bike that can double as a speed racer. And despite its high functionality, what really stands out (from a commuter’s perspective) is just how comfortable the La Forma is. With its upright design, flat handlebars and sleek design, you’re guaranteed a ride through town that’s swift, gives you good posture, and meets all your daily rider needs.

Brooklyn Bikes Roebling

A steel frame and range of five sizes keeps this bicycle classic and versatile, while a 3-by-8-drivetrain lets riders roam through uneven city streets if they need to. Made with the city-boy or –girl in mind, the Brooklyn Bikes Roebling is completely customizable, in terms of utilities. There are braze-on mounts for fenders, lights, water bottles and baskets, ensuring you can ride around town with everything you need for work or play.

Cannondale Bad Boy 1

While the Bad Boy has long been a staple bicycle in the Cannondale collection, the latest edition is decidedly bigger and better. Designed for the guy (or girl!) with cycling in their veins, this big, bad bike has 650b wheels, performance tires, and to keep riders safe in the dark, slick-red LED lights in the back and reflective bumpers in the front. When you first spot this bike, there’s no denying where it gets its name—it’s powerful, has a sturdy double-crown design and comes in all black.
